I recently had a friend mention she was going on a getaway to Midway, UTAH and it reminded me of an article I have been meaning to write for several weeks. My husband and I took a little getaway to Midway a few months ago and loved it. Midway is such a charming little town and it's BEAUTIFUL! Located in Heber valley, the city has a total area of 3.3 square miles!
It is home of the 10,000-year old geo-thermal crater, which attracts many swimmers and scuba divers because of the warm & clear mineral water. Midway was also home of the 2002 Winter Olympics cross-country and biathlon events.
WHAT TO DO IN MIDWAY, UTAH
Despite its small size, there are actually many things to do in Midway because of its close proximity to Heber, Park City, and Salt Lake City. If you are staying overnight as a couple, then I very highly recommend the Blue Boar Inn–a charming little Inn with European charm. The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant offers 12 elegantly decorated rooms complete with turrets, wrought iron balconies and fireplaces. Each room is named after a famous literary figure and comes complete with pillow-top beds, fresh flowers, jetted tubs and a light refreshment plate of fruit and cheese. From the Charles Dickens room featuring a leather sleigh bed and hand-carved wooden ceiling to the Elizabeth Barret/Robert Browning Suite with hand-woven English floral carpet and private balcony, the Blue Boar Inn offers an unparalleled lodging experience in a quiet Utah mountain town.
. We stayed in the William Shakespeare room. It is a unforgetable little getaway, and If you follow them on Facebook you can watch for updates and specials. Each room has a fireplace and jetted spa tub and the staff is super friendly and attentive. You will most likely personally meet the InnKeeper, as he likes to make his way around the restaurant in the morning and greet all the various guests.
What really sets the Blue Boar Inn apart aside from the charming atmosphere, is the 4-star restaurant. The only time we splurge on nice restaurants is when we are on a getaway together (which happens rarely), so I soaked up the atmosphere and food as much as I could. We noticed that many people come to the Blue boar Inn just for the restaurant and we were not surprised! The food was spectacular. We recommend the fondue as an appetizer:
Although dinner was by far our favorite, the breakfast was also yummy.
