Looking for a great dessert for this Halloween? Look no further than these spider cookies! If the arachnophobe in you is getting triggered by the idea of a spider cookie, don't worry! These cookies are cute enough to avoid startling even the worst arachnophobe.
When it comes to Halloween treats, the idea is to balance the aesthetic. You don't want something that is too creepy or gross-looking, since while it will fit the theme it will be at the cost of some appetites! On the opposite end, you don't want to have the theme be so vague that the food you're serving looks like it could be served any time of the year.
With all of our Halloween recipes, we've tried to hit that balance perfectly. We think we've really done a good job with these spider cookies. They look similar to the real thing, but leave the “scary” part of Halloween decorations out. You'll have plenty of opportunities to scare your guests with your decorations- let them get a break with the food!
Spider Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
Chocolate sandwich cookies
Black licorice whips
1 tube of chocolate decorating frosting
Red cinnamon candies
Directions:
1. Cut licorice to the appropriate size for the spider's legs.
2. Insert eight licorice legs into each sandwich cookie. (four on each side)
3. Position two cinnamon candies on the cookie for the spider's eyes (secure each eye with a dot of chocolate frosting).
