Health Benefits of Green Beans
This green bean casserole is not only delicious, it’s also nutritious! It contains a healthy serving of green beans, which are packed full of nutrients. Let’s go over why green beans can improve your complexion, increase your energy, and lower your weight.
Green beans are rich in vitamin C, folate, potassium, and beta-carotene. These nutrients help fight inflammation and regulate blood pressure. Green beans are also an excellent source of fiber and protein, which helps you feel full without the extra calories and helps lower cholesterol.
Boiling green beans can remove a lot of the nutrients, so it is recommended to bake them instead. You can replace the cream of mushroom soup in the green bean casserole with Greek yogurt to make the dish healthier. Also, opt for fresh or frozen green beans rather than green beans in a can. Fresh or frozen green beans are healthier than canned.
With all of the health benefits, it’s a wonder we don’t eat green beans more often. Adding this green bean casserole to a meal will help balance out any of the less healthy dishes. So, go ahead and eat that dessert because you’ve given your immune system a healthy boost of green beans.
