Will The Scarsdale Diet Work For Me?

Trying to pick the right diet for weight loss can be frustrating. There are so many different dieting plans out there, each with their own promises and ideas. The Scarsdale diet is one of the most extreme dieting plans out there, so it's important to understand what you're getting yourself into.

The Scarsdale diet begins with a 14-day period that heavily restricts your diet. You are forbidden from eating a number of foods, and are restricted to 1,000 calories a day. After this initial two week period, the diet loosens its restrictions, but still remains one of the strictest diets out there.

Medical and nutritional professionals have raised concerns in the past over the safety of the Scarsdale diet. Since it is so restrictive, there is a real risk for nutritional deficiency. If you are on this diet, it's important to speak to a nutritional professional to ensure you get the vitamins and minerals you need.

Further, nutritional experts have criticized this diet for demonizing calories rather than teaching people how to manage them realistically. These experts have labeled the Scarsdale diet as difficult to sustain over the long term, due in part to its significant restrictions. While some may find success with this diet, others may find their weight loss on this plan is only temporary.
