Description

Plenty nutritious and expertly satisfying, the French onion soup will leave your family happy, especially if it is on a day when it is cold outside.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 onions, minced
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon flour
  • 2 cups each light cream and milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Toasted French bread slices
  • ¾ cup grated gruyere cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook onions in butter 5 minutes. Blend in flour.
  2. Add cream and milk; bring to boil. Simmer 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Put toasted bread in a tureen. Add soup; sprinkle with cheese.
