Move Over, Tesla—These 8 Electric Cars Are Just as Impressive

Electric cars have gotten rather popular in recent years with car companies like Tesla leading the charge, but they aren't a new concept. The first electric car is often considered the Flocken Elektrowagen, designed by German Andreas Flocken in 1888 but it wasn't until 1891 that an American brand was developed,  a six-passenger electric wagon created by William Morrison. And although EV sales increased in the early 20th century, the concept didn't quite catch on and by the 1930s, gas-powered cars dominated the roads.

With concerns of the environment, gas prices, and car maintenance, electric vehicles have risen in popularity once again and are popping up more and more on roads. One of the most recognized brands on the market is Tesla, a leader in the EV market in the United States know for their charging network, design, and performance. But they aren't the only EV options on the market. Eight electric cars are just as impressive.

From the comfort and availability of the Nissan Leaf to the ultimate luxury of the Rolls-Royce Spectre, there's something for every budget. If you're in the market for a new electric car, then consider some on this list. They are fast, affordable, and they have the bells and whistles that will have you forgetting about Tesla in no time.
