Costco is breaking the Internet this weekend. Part of the allure of Costco is that they'll bring in limited-time items, many of which are completely out of left field. It's been called the “Treasure Hunt” shopping strategy as you never quite know what to expect when visiting Costco stores.
The new “Treasure Hunt” item is a 157-piece Le Creuset kitchen set. At $4,500 it's not cheap, but with Le Creuset pots, pans, and dishes each costing upwards of $400, many are wondering just how good of a deal this 157-piece set is. Let's dive into how much money you can save by buying this massive kitchen set deal through Costco.
The Background on Costco's Le Creuset Kitchen Set
Le Creuset is likely the most famous for its Dutch ovens. Prices vary by size with a 2-quart Dutch oven costing $260 while a 9-quart Dutch oven costs $500. However, Le Creuset makes cookware of all kinds, and it is generally acknowledged to be of very high quality.
The 157-piece set includes a wide variety of items. The best way to see what comes with it is to simply look at the picture embedded above, but some highlights include:
- 3 Dutch ovens ranging from 3.5 to 7.25 quarts.
- A 16-quart stockpot with lid
- Casserole dishes, au gratin dishes, square dishes, and pie dishes
- 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 8 soup bowls, 8 pasta bowls
- Specialty items like a crepe pan and baking trays
There's so much cookware that the 157-piece set is shipped in a palette and shipping to Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii isn't allowed.

In total, each of the items in the Costco Le Creuset 157-piece Cooking Set would cost $7,102. So, by buying all these items in a set you save $2,602, or about 37%.
Are the Costco Savings Worth It?
Is that a big enough savings to justify buying this massive set? It's clearly been enough to overwhelm demand as the Costco page for the 157-piece set is now displaying them as “Out of Stock.”
The set is probably best suited for buyers who are looking to completely revamp their cookware. A lot of the extra value comes from getting things like dinner plates, soup bowls, and assorted items like spoons which you may already have and aren't looking to replace.
We also isolated items on the list that are dishes (that is to say, excluded things like plates) and the total value came out to a bit more than $5,000. That's still a better value than the complete set through Costco ($4,499.99), but assuming there are some dishes and saucepans you wouldn't otherwise purchase, the savings aren't as extreme.
Regardless, we can't wait to see some videos springing up on TikTok and Instagram of these 157-piece sets hitting homes in the coming weeks!
