Adopting a dog is an exciting and busy time! There's so much that you have to buy to prepare for the arrival of your new friend. It's easy to remember the basics, but there are some supplies you may forget to grab. Here are some commonly forgotten dog supplies that you need.

Buying some car accessories for your dog is important. Seat protectors, a net to go between the front and back seats, and a dog seatbelt are all considerations that you need to make. If you get in an accident, the last thing you want is for your dog to go vaulting into the front seat. You'll also want seat protectors to protect against any accidents or digging.

Don't forget about flea and tick prevention, as well as heartworm prevention. You will need a vet to sign off on heartworm prevention; many vets require a physical before they'll do this. It's important that you protect your furry friend from these harmful pests, even in the wintertime. Some pet owners mistakenly think that they can stop flea and tick treatment in the winter, when that isn't the case.

Finally, don't forget about travel supplies! A travel dish is a great idea. It's a collapsible dish you can easily bring with you when you travel with your dog.
