Affordable Adventures in Hiking Towns Where Homes Are Less Than $63K

Few things compare to the experience of being surrounded by nature. Being outdoors offers an incredible range of benefits from reducing stress, improving wellness, and increasing sleep quality to boosting your immune system, easing anxiety, and so much more. And if you're one of the many avid hikers who enjoy countless outdoor adventures, there are also an incredible variety of hiking trails to take advantage of. Which is why you might want to relocate to one of the many hiking towns where homes are affordable.

To determine affordable adventures in hiking towns where homes are less than $63k, Moms Who Think reviewed five-year data on median household value and median household income from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey. Cities, towns, and Census-designated places were ranked based on the ratio of median home value to median household income.

Only hiking towns with at least 2,500 residents and at least half a mile of hiking trail per 10 square miles of land area were included. Spatial data on hiking trails is from the U.S. Forest Service. If relocating to a place where you can hike, bike, camp, or choose your own adventure year round sounds ideal to you, you're in luck. With these hiking towns, there's no doubt something for everyone.
