If were here for last week's water beads activity, or the wall mural painting the week before, you know that I have a goal to do ONE out of the ordinary activity with my kids each week. This week we decided to do slime. I don't know why I had it in my head that making slime would be this big ordeal with a big mess, because it wasn't. We mixed it up in only a couple minutes, and were able to narrow it down to 2 ingredients. We actually made the version using Borax as well, but I didn't like the texture as well as this one:
How to Make Glitter Slime
What you need:
Elmer's Glitter Glue (5-6 oz)
Liquid starch – 1/2 Cup
How to Make it:
Pour your glue into your bowl and slowly start adding your starch. Mix in about a Tablespoon at a time and stir it around. Repeat until you get to your desired consistency. If you want it to be super sticky/slimy, use less starch. If you want it to be closer to gak, use more starch. I like to get it just to the point where it's not sticky because it will still stretch, but it won't get all over my kid's clothes.
What we learned:
We actually did this activity 3 different days this week. The first day we did a more sticky/stretchy version. I made the mistake of not putting their art smocks on, and it stuck to their clothes. Trust me when I say it was hard to get out. I'm talking scrub-with-a-toothbrush (while the girls make disasters in the next room) kind of hard. I highly advise your children wear smocks (or if you don't have any you can make one out of a kitchen garbage bag like we did for wall mural painting). The second day I used the full half cup of liquid starch and it wasn't sticky at all. That's how we will make it from now on 🙂
There's lots of different things you can do with this sensory activity.

We also made hand and foot imprints in our slime so that we could feel the texture in between our toes!
