If you remember my previous post on creative ways to surprise your kids with a trip to Disneyland, I made something this week to add to the fun! A DIY Scratch and Reveal! And the good news is that not only is it super easy to make, but I am also providing a free printable to make your life easier!
Even if you decide not to do the scratch and reveal, you can use this printable for a treasure hunt and have all the Mickey Ears be clues! I purposely left the face blank so that you can customize this however you want! P.S. You can see where I had to color in the ears with black marker because my printer is lame and running out of ink. Yours will look WAY better! 😉
How to Make Your Own Scratch & Reveal:
- Print the Mickey Head onto cardstock or heavy photo paper. Write your Surprise in Ball Point Ink (or something that won't bleed when you apply the next step).
- Color over the surpise with WHITE crayon (heavily). You will still be able to see your words when you are done.
- Mix a little bit of acrylic paint with Elmer's glue (enough to color the glue black).
- Apply a few coats until you can no longer see your message.
Wait for it to dry! I love using Elmer's glue because when the kids go to scratch it off it is really easy! I used a quarter and it came off way good! Print the printable by clicking on the Mickey Head below, then right click and “save as.”
And if you haven't booked your trip yet, I highly recommend Get Away Today! They beat every price out there and you can get an additional $10 off your vacation package with code “MOTHERSNICHE”
