Sweet Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
2 pounds lean ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1½ cups ketchup
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Supplies:
2 one-gallon freezer bag, labeled
On hand for each entrée:
5 hamburger buns
Directions:
1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef; drain liquid.
2. Add onion and green pepper. Stir in garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Season with salt and pepper. Cool to room temperature. Divide mixture evenly between two freezer bags. Seal and freeze.
To Serve:
1. Defrost sloppy joe mixture on the stove over medium heat. Serve on hamburger buns.
Yield: 2 entrees, 5 servings each
Freeze up to: 4 months
