White Chalk for Greasy Laundry
Keep a piece of white chalk in the laundry room to rub on grease stains and absorb the oil. Launder as usual and the grease spot should disappear.
This should works on butter, salad dressing, cooking oil, and more. If you don't have chalk you can use cornstarch instead. Just sprinkle it over the stain, let sit for for 10 minutes to soak up the oil, and wash as normal.
Pulling for a Cleaner Carpet
You should push your vacuum forward to get it into the right position. Pulling it is the action that works to remove any soil. Go slower when you're pulling the vacuum towards you for cleaner carpets!
Cornstarch for Cleaning Glass
For clear, shiny clean glass add a teaspoon of cornstarch to a cup of white vinegar and a cup of water for an inexpensive but very effective window cleaning solution. Cornstarch is a very fine natural abrasive that helps thoroughly clean away dirt and leave behind a streak-free shine.
Vinegar to Clean Shower Heads
Get the grime and hard water deposits off your shower head by pouring distilled white vinegar into a plastic baggie and attaching it to your shower head with a rubber band. Let it soak for an hour or so and wipe clean with a wet cloth for a clear shiny shower head.
Use a Rubber Squeegee to Clean Up Pet Hair
Use a simple rubber squeegee and a spray bottle of water to get pet hair out of your car or furniture. Simply spray the area lightly with water then use the squeeze in even strokes, at an angle to grab all the clingy hair in one swoop.
