Casseroles are an easy way to put a delicious meal on the table without spending half the night in the kitchen. You'll only need a handful of ingredients for this recipe, so you won't have to buy a lot at the store. Plus, depending on the size of your family (and their appetites) you may be left with leftovers.
This ham and green bean casserole is a filling, tasty dinner that uses easy-to-find ingredients. Great for leftovers or any time you want a home cooked meal on the table in no time. If your kids are picky about eating their vegetables, this is a great way to get them to do so without having to pull your hair out in the process. Combining veggies with lots of other ingredients helps mask the taste.
If you want to cut down on the calories and fat in this recipe, you can use low- or reduced-fat cheddar cheese instead of regular cheddar. The taste won't be noticeably different, but the change will make the recipe just a bit healthier. Stick to regular milk, as using low-fat milk may cause a shift in the way this dish turns out.
The seasonings you pick are up to you! Try to pick seasonings that complement the tastes of green beans, ham, and cheese well. Salt and pepper are a must, but where you go after that is up to you and your family's taste preferences. Onion powder is another popular choice that you may choose to go with. Use what's in your pantry already, or get creative and try something new!
