Chicken makes a great base for any meal. It is a lean and healthy meat that can help you meet your protein goals for the day without packing on the calories.
Stuffing is a great side for chicken, but why make meat separately when you can combine everything together to make one casserole? The recipe for our chicken stuffing casserole is hearty and delicious. Read on to find out more about the meal, as well as some variations that you can serve to your family.
Chicken Stuffing Casserole
The recipe starts by preparing the chicken and cutting it up into bite-sized pieces. The chicken is then covered by a soup mixture that consists of two cans of cream of chicken soup and one can of broth. Next, cover the chicken with ¾ to 1 pound of sliced Swiss cheese.
Melt butter into the stuffing and spread it over the chicken. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncover and bake another 15 minutes. The dish will be a taste sensation with a bready layer of stuffing on the top, a cheesy filling, and a lean protein on the bottom to round it out.
You can vary the dish by playing around with the flavor of the soups. Cream of mushroom or cream of celery can substitute the cream of chicken soup. Beef broth, fish broth, or vegetable broth can also be used to change the taste of the recipe.
You can also use different flavors of stuffing to enhance the meal. Cheese is an optional ingredient that some cooks leave out when they make this recipe. Some will use a store-bought rotisserie chicken, which makes preparation easier and can also affect the taste of the meal.
Many cooks add vegetables to their chicken stuffing casserole. Celery, mushrooms, and onion are recommended. Ingredients like milk and mayo can also be used to thicken up the casserole’s texture, and the dish can be seasoned to your liking.
Chicken Stuffing Bake
There is really no difference between a casserole and a bake in terms of food. The casserole can refer to not only the meal but the pot it’s cooked, in whereas bake will refer only to the dish itself.
However, when you hear the terms bake and casserole being used in reference to a recipe, they are basically the same thing. That is to say, they are a mixture of ingredients that are baked together in one dish to alter the characteristics of the food and make them blend together in a way that will be satisfying to the taste buds.
When we think of a chicken stuffing casserole and a chicken stuffing bake, there is really no difference. Variations can be made on the dish, but the basic ingredients will include chicken, stuffing, and some type of a creamy soup base.

This combination is a great one to serve during the colder months, when hearty and filling meals are welcome. Any of these recipes, including the one featured at the bottom of this page, are great for a Thanksgiving dish. Regular stuffing gets boring after a while, so change it up by making it its own dish with chicken thrown in.
Gravy stuffing chicken bake is a great recipe to try. This recipe requires an entire 3-pound chicken shredded into bite-sized pieces. Corn and carrots are added, and chicken and turkey gravy are poured on the top. Stuffing makes a great final ingredient, and the whole meal is put into the oven to bake.
Chicken on rice with stuffing is another variation. For this recipe, you start by coating the chicken with melted butter and pepper. You prepare rice (the recipe calls for white, but you can use the flavor of your choice) sprinkled with a dry onion soup mix. Spread the rice to create a base and top with diced onion.
Next, make a mixture that consists of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, celery seed, and garlic powder. Drop spoonfuls of half of the mixture onto the rice, lightly spreading evenly. Place the chicken on top and spoon the remaining mixture over the chicken. Prepare the stuffing and spread it on top of the chicken. Then cover with aluminum foil and bake for at least an hour, until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear.
